There are some books you read, and then there are books that meet you exactly where you are.
Lost Lambs was 100% the second kind for me.
This was such a homey, comforting read—the kind that doesn’t demand anything from you, but still gives you everything. It felt grounding in a way I didn’t realize I needed until I was in it. This was a book that I chose for my Book of the Month selections in January, and it has been one of my all-time favorites.
My Thoughts
What really stood out to me were the relationships. They felt so natural and quietly charming, like you were just watching real people exist and figure things out together.
We follow the Flynn family, and the three VERY different daughters. One is a party-girl galore, one is a miniature detective that suspects some suspicious activity, and one is engaged in a dangerous online relationship while searching for love.
And Father Andrew?? The priest? Unexpected highlight of the entire book. He had me laughing more than once, and not in an over-the-top way…just perfectly timed, dry, and human.
Also… the one-liners in this book deserve their own award.
“I am a capitalist. Everything is transactional.”
I stopped after that line. Like… excuse me?? The delivery was just too good. I took a photo of the page and knew I would need to keep that on standby.
But beyond the humor, this book hit in a deeper way. Timing matters with stories, and this one landed in my life at exactly the right moment. It felt comforting, a little reflective, and honestly just really good for my soul. When a family falls apart…but somehow reassembles by the end…it hits in a way that I cannot even describe. Even if the new assembly is untraditional, a little messy, and not what you were originally going after <3

This is absolutely one I’d recommend.
