Why I Picked Up The Witch Collector

A witchy read is something I’ll quickly pick up, and I’m glad I didn’t let this one slide by. After all, October is the perfect season for witchiness. Once I really got into The Witch Collector by Charissa Weaks, I didn’t want to stop reading—and luckily, a long flight with a layover gave me the perfect excuse to keep going. The Witch Collector kicks off the Witch Walker series, which is still unfolding with multiple installments planned over the next few years. I’m genuinely excited to see how the story—and these characters—continue to evolve.

What I Loved About The Witch Collector

Plot & Pacing

The opening chapters are short yet impactful, drawing you in immediately. Not only did I not see the plot coming, but this surprise also made the story even more engaging. Moreover, the twists and turns felt natural, not forced, which made me feel like I was right there with the characters—every reveal landing in a way that felt both earned and satisfying.

Characters & Relationships

Even the side characters added real depth and dimension to the story. Each had a purpose, not just filler, making the world feel rich and alive. Raina’s character is stubborn and headstrong, yet evolves and grows throughout the book. Her relationship with Alexus carries real emotional weight and intensity that leaps off the page.

Writing Style & Atmosphere

Charissa Weaks truly shines in her storytelling. Her prose is vivid but never overdone, weaving emotion and atmosphere in a way that feels effortless. Indeed, you can sense the magic on every page, yet it never overshadows the people at the heart of the story. That balance kept me fully immersed from start to finish.

Charissa Weaks has crafted a world that’s as enchanting as it is dangerous, and I can’t wait to see where she takes the story next.
